How does one market the big-boned divas like Martha Wash, Mandisa, or Mau Marcelo? What does a record label do with a black, gay singer like Billy Porter or Anwar Robinson? For every Clay Aiken, you have a Tamyra Gray. I would love to be proven wrong, sis, but it doesn't look good for Melinda. She will have a good life, though, singing backup, most likely, and reliving this experience, which may well have been one of the best in her life.
