Blogging to stop abuse
The Philippine blogosphere has been beset by a lot of controversies, intrigues and conflicts since I started being an active participant some 8 months ago.
There was the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards that caused such a stir amongst the bloggers who were attendees, participants, organizers, or just readers.
There was the discussions regarding link trains awhile back as I recall.
Just recently, many have participated and several have said their piece on the recently concluded Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs in 2007
Many people have been wanting to air their suspicions but it was Noemi who’s post I read first that maybe led to Yuga’s meeting with a 13 year old money maker.
And not so many hours ago, the blogosphere was again rocked by Jayvee’s views on an IMMAP presentation which was held last week.
I think that with all that has happened and are happening, now is the best time to re-focus our energies into bringing more good to the world. So why not blog for a cause? Why not blog to stop abuse? How do we do this?
On September 27, I invite you to join thousands of bloggers around the world in this month’s blogcatalog challenge. The challenge is: Bloggers against Abuse. All you have to do is blog about putting an end to some sort of Abuse (you decide what kind of abuse to blog about). You can spread the word to other bloggers or place a badge of the event on your site.
By doing this you get to use your blog for an important cause and become part of creating blogging history! Ain’t that great?

actually this is what I am ranting about in one of my blogs–that bloggers to have some social responsibility. Blogging is one of the more influential medium now. So why waste it for some nonsense topics?
Cheers!
btw, what is special about Sept 27? Any important event?
inkblots – I really do not blame anyone for blogging about something that truly pisses them off or writing about something that they truly believe in. A lot of times good writing is spawned out of these inspirations. I am still trying to figure out what is with Sept 27 but in case I dont find out, no biggie.
That precisely is my aim in blogging from Day 1. Use this new tool for citizens participation.
Best wishes!
how ironic that I started a topic. anyway, I did my share and made my stand . I actually have 2 advocacies before I went blogging. I just used the blog as a medium to promote my mission. Along the way, I enjoyed the new friends I gained from blogging. like you and Chris.
Peter – Good for you! I admit that I wasnt thinking that BIG when I started blogging. I was aiming for a more personal (almost selfish) self-expression. But if blogging can do a world of good, I am all for it. Cheers!
Noemi – And I really admire you for your strength and passion and I will always be a fan. Ill see you soon!
Wow, this is cool!
