My diamond peel experience

Everyone knows I am kikay. One look at me and many will say… Ahh, yes you definitely are. Because I am like that, I take great effort to take care of myself and to try to look good. I am very particular with the clothes, the makeup brands, the shoes, and the skincare I buy for myself. I also make sure that my body gets a good de-stressing by getting a good massage once in a while or visit spa’s to get a quick facial.

But… this is the first time that I have experienced the diamond peel.

Diamond peel is a non-surgical method of encouraging skin renewal. This treatment uses a wand with a disposable diamond tip that propels crystal flow to the skin and also vacuums away the dirt and dead skin cells.

I had mine at the Clarity Aesthetic Center. The attendant first slathered some cream that was cool to the skin all over my face. She then wiped it off after giving my face a quick and light massage. Then she turned the machine on and I just felt this pencil-like thing on my face. Then I felt my flesh being sucked by that pencil bit by bit. It wasn’t painful at all mind you but I felt awkward at first. Since I could not see what was being done to my face, I really couldn’t tell what all the vacuuming was doing to my skin. I doubt that whatever was being removed was visible to the naked eye. After about 30 minutes, it was over. She showed me the “dirt” that was removed from my face and I saw a very small wad of cotton that was black with the dirt she said came from my face. Oooowwwws - I was tempted to challenge her.

I looked at my face and it was red and raw (or at least that’s how it felt). But my skin felt lighter and somehow cleaner. I was told to ensure I put on sunblock so that my skin does not get sun-damaged.

About three days later, I finally noticed the difference. My skin had always felt thick, and slightly grainy… there was dirt on it all the time regardless how much I scrubbed it clean. Also, there used to be spots on my face that were so dry they were actually peeling. And of course I have the large pores and the white heads and black heads. Now… I cannot keep from touching my face. My skin feels so soft and smooth. My pores have been diminished to oblivion and my nose is free from white heads - as in!

So ok. I am a believer. I guess that’s why many celebrities have such good skin. I am sure many of them go through the same if not similar procedure to take care of their faces, especially since its mostly their faces that sell. Now I can have my own diamond peel session at an affordable price at the Clarity clinic.

I am totally loving my face right now… hehe.

ria_envodka - how deep are the scars? If they are really deep, I dont thin dp will be effective in terms of taking the scar out. DP may smoothen out your skin and even out coloring so that the scar will be less noticeable but thats about it.

thanks for replying sis aps…yung 2 kasi both on my chin..yung isa medyo sobrang lalim, yung isa namin, malalim din pero maliit yung pinakahole nyo. up to now, visible pa yung mga scars ng chicken pox…pero you think sis pag nag pa dp ako, medyo malelessen din yung pinakahole? sa clarity ba sis, isang session lang ok na? or have to have other sessions pa?

  3. |

ria_envodka - Yung number of sessions depends on how much improvement you want. Typically you need more than 1 if you want to maintain your skin so regular dp lang though it doesnt have to be once a week or something.

sis…salamat talaga ha…very informative talaga tong site mo…dami kong natututunan lalo na on how to take care of our skin….sige, siguro after a week, magpa dp na ako…para at least malessen sunken scar..thanks talaga sis..mabuhay ka…wag kang magsasawa…

jackie28 - I have only tried it in a neighborhood salon, at a derma at Robinsons Galleria and at Clarity. Out of the 3, I like the results that the Clarity session gave me.

  9. |

how much is the dp per session in clarity?

  10. |

crizz - the dp session today i think is at P2,500 but its best if you go there to inquire yourself.

hi apple, found this site while browsing better ideas how to go about the scars from my recently healed chicken pox. i was kinda delighted to see over 1 site that has diamond peel for only php500, well the clinic is kinda popular here in cebu but never did i thought that dp could be that affordable..but as in its like for only 500? how much is the usual price for dp? i never really tried these kind of things since i had these chicken pox, never even had attemptd to try simple facial lang so i dont really have idea really! can you help me out? kweny_18cutie@yahoo.com tnx i’ll be anticipating your response…

  12. |

kweny - DP is actually affordable but at Php500 I would be a bit concerned unless they actually have a promo. The price ranges from the known and reputable clinics are from P1,500 to P2,500. Remember that DP uses a high tech machine to apply the treatment to your skin. Maintenance costs of these types of machines are very expensive so why charge cheap? Businesses aim to at least recover their investments. I suggest that you check out the clinic’s track record and documents. Do they have licensed dermatologists who handle the machines? Don’t base your decision on the price especially when its your skin that is at stake.

How much does diamond peel cost in Clarity Aesthetic center? and every how many weeks do you have diamond peel? thanks

  14. |

my web design - The diamond peel I had back then cost Php1,500. I think right now their price for DP is about Php2K to more than Php2K. Frequency depends on your skin type (sensitive, oily etc) and what you want to achieve with your skin.

  15. |

hi.. yung dp ba mamamalat yung face mu after?.. kase im thinking na magtry eh.. yung hbc kasi may promo sila.. free dp when u purchase at least 3oopesos..

  16. |

hanee - When I had my session, my skin naman did not peel although super red sya as if binalatan.

  17. |

AS IN MAMUMULA? weehh.. i really want to try DP.. but im scared.. hahaha! i had my facial cleaning and peeling too but not DP.. =)

  18. |

Jhona - Yes as in mamumula but its the redness that not too scary to look at. I guess I was fine with it because I get naturally red (blushing type red) whenever its hot, or when I drink or when I exert some kind of physical effort. Try it na!

hello po!!! as in maganda po ba talaga ang DP sa Clarity Aesthetic Center??
May iba pa po ba kayo na pwede i-recommend?? i really don’t know po kasi kung saan ako pupunta, hindi ako makapili sa Dermastrata, YSA, Belo, Cathy Valencia, Forever Flawless, and ito nga pong Clarity…Thanks po!

  20. |

lovie - I have not been to all those other places except for Belo so I can only say things about Clarity. Try to ask around for testimonials on the other places, you can try to visit the place and ask about their programs. Inquire about the staff, observe the place for cleanliness etc. That will help you decide where to get your DP.

  21. |

Dp is really amazing! I already have my self esteem…hahaha no-on kasi super mahiya ako maexposed with people kasi nakakaingit nila they all have flawless skin and me? huh! parang pinya ang mukha ko that’s why i try DP and u just judge nalang me…hehehe DP is the best!

  22. |

Hello po. i have this deep scars and big acne on my face, naka tulong ba ang diamond peel?

  23. |

hi. thanks.. still planning to have mine to through dp. but my mom tells me that im too young for it..
what if my face still have little pimples.. can i dp na ba?… and after 3days mo makkta ung results?

  24. |

chonnie - would love to see pics of the changes. I think thats the reason why many hesitate. they cant believe your skin can improve.

  25. |

roborobo - I think you need to treat the acne first and then do DP so that the skin gets smoother.

  26. |

tinapay - How old are you? Ask your mom if you can have consultation first then she can talk to the derma herself. You need 3 days at most for your skin to react to the treatment. Maybe if you wont have redness, it will take just 2 days.

  27. |

ei. i had my facial every month. pero, nagkaron lang ako ng scar due to pricking. maaalis ba toh thru DP? saka, may mga black heads ako na super liit. kailang. good ba na mgpa-DP din every month?

  28. |

may maintenance medication ka din ba ate apple? please help me naman. i really hate scars! natry ko na subukan lahat ng creams. err.

  29. |

edelina - I dont have any maintenance medications. I just have a skincare routine and i dont mix and match products and rarely buy new products unless I have had a chance to try it out. I have been using the same skincare line for about 6 years. ;)

  30. |

ganon po ba ate apple? until now hindi pa ako nakakapagpa-DP. i have a friend, who had 4 sessions. nagka-scar din xa. nung una, okey. pero habang tumatagal, lumilitaw ulit ung scars. how is that?

  31. |

Hi Ate Apple!

Salamat Ate!

  32. |

hi po! i hav an acne po kc.. is it ok if i hav 2 undergo DP.. does it really helps in lessening the acne and scars? thank you so much.. hoping for a reply..

  33. |

princess - Better if you consult with a derma. If you know your skin very well though then you would know if you need DP or not. DP is a maintenance thing and not a miracle cure so it is not enough to have it once.

  34. |

lot - For acne, I think you have to get treatment first before even thinking of DP. There should be something that the Derma can recommend. Thanks!

  35. |

hey im 15 years old at gus2 q tlga mgp DP ,, ang pinoprob q lan is after DP pde b aqng mag wear ng make up? kc student plng aq ,, kkhiya kc if i go to skul n wlang make up?.

  36. |

jose - Yes you can wear makeup if you can take not having to wash your face for a few days (which is not a good idea). After DP you are discouraged from using cleansers until after a few days and this is due to your skin being very sensitive after the treatment.

  37. |

ate apple, bago ba i DP, ife-facial muna? nagpapafacial ako noon, ngkascars lang ako. tas ngayon, ayaw na matanggal.

  38. |

edelina - There are different kinds and treatments used for facials. Mostly the difference is in the solutions used on your skin. DP is different since it uses a special tool to do its work.

  39. |

i will be getting my first tomorrow and i am really excited. i just had to read your post because i am excited to get the peel. :D

  40. |

marriagemarkers - Good luck and hope you enjoy your treatement!

  41. |

Hi! I’m toying with the idea of having a diamond peel. I have a question though. Will my problem with my open pores and blackheads be at least minimized or gone? It’s my #1 problem. I’d appreciate it if you can e-mail me in private. Thanks.

  42. |

Ms D - Sent you an email. Thanks!

  43. |

Hi po. I’ve been taking Isotretinoin (Acnetrex) for 15 wks now. My doctor said that after 3 months pa pwede mgpa DP. Hoping po ako na effective ang DP. Tanong ko lang kung may acne problems ka tulad ko? At kung meron man, gumaling ba mga scars mo with DP?

  44. |

balak ko sna mag pa DP kso di ko lng alam kung mganda tlga sa CLarity.. worth trying b tlga?

  45. |

pektai89 - I had another DP session yesterday at another place and I must say I still prefer Clarity. Will write about it soon! Thanks!
