About Me
Who is ApplesH?
In life. I am the stereotypical middle child. I breezed through my academics but struggled at life. I am a perfectionist and lives to meet very high standards.
I am have been a 30-something corporate slave kept alive by a steady stream of instant, brewed or flavored coffee. A woman into sports but hardly has time for it. Ambitious, goal-oriented and obsessive compulsive, who never has a hair out of place unless its an extremely bad hair day. You will never catch me without SPF.
I am a frustrated racecar driver who owns 50 pairs of shoes, with 90% of them having heels not lower than 2 inches. I consider myself the secret behind the success of a lot of shoe stores although they are unaware of it. I almost cried when my favorite black pumps got worn out but at Php300 bucks, I had to let it go after seven years.
I am also a frustrated writer and have a penchant for unloading on my poor friends. To prevent them from having a nervous breakdown as result of sponging on my miseries, I started blogging.
Unfortunately (hehe), I met my husband and my addiction turned into a full fledge sickness. I am hooked on blogging and wordpress.
I now write for three blogs.
apples-pie is my personal, lifestyle blog.
kubiertos is a food blog I share with my husband, ChrisH.
mother of two is where I write about my experiences as a mom and wife.
In blogging. I am not a writer or a journalist. I graduated from an engineering course in an extremely nerdy school in Manila so I became the editor of our organization paper, joined a choir and got into competitive sports so I could shake up my world a bit.
Got a job to continue being a nerd and learned all about computers and the internet. I used my thirst for knowledge and creativity to discover the world wide web and got sucked into blogging, html, wordpress, social networking and twitter.
My journey as a blogger started back in 2005 using free platforms like blogger.com to express my frustration at life and love. My husband (then boyfriend) watched as I struggled to learn css and html so that I could prettify my blog theme so he introduced me to wordpress and made my life easier.
Although not exactly a professional at blogging, I now know a bit more than I did 4 years ago. I have been able to extend my writing to niche topics such as food and parenting and currently I am still on a roll, alive and kicking and loving it.
In person.
What makes me go hmmm…
… smell of my husband’s perfume … satin sheets … racy thongs … killer stilettos … smell of brewed coffee … milk chocolate in my mouth … coming out of an orgasm … See’s candy store … Krispy Kreme … Fino leather store … Coach bags … potato chips … cheese … dripping caramel sauce … Marc Nelson
What makes me go uuggh…
… worms … mall comfort rooms … rain on my shoes … mud on my feet … sand on my legs … putting my bag on the floor … riding a crowded elevator … the smell of a fast food place at 10pm … wedgies … vanilla-scented perfume … ampalaya … stone-washed denim … sun-browned hair … split-ends … wind on my hair … sweat … hearing loud music out of other people’s earphones …
What makes me laugh…
… my husband’s signature dance … my sons’ kisses … being tickled … my friend Carlo’s antics … remembering my Arizona days with Jadie and Gette … reminiscing about old boyfriends … making fun of my friend Rudy … Scrubs TV series

Hi! Our production team invites you to the anniversary episode of the lifestyle TV show titled She Ka on October 22, 2009 as we plan to have “food raters” in the live program. The second half of the one-hour program will feature the food raters’ blogs and interviews about the evolution of the Filipino taste in the last two years. The tentative venue is the newly-opened Z.Bar, also at Fox Square Bldg, Connecticut, Greenhills and our call time is at 6:30 am. We hope to have three raters.=)
Good Evening Sir,
We are Marketing students from the Ateneo and we are trying to get interviews with all the famous chefs, restaurant owners and food bloggers/critics in Manila for our project on gourmet mushrooms. We are creating a mock-up business plan for a new way to recycle urban wastes (used coffee grounds) by using that as substrates in producing Oyster Mushrooms. We would really appreciate your insights regarding the tastes of Filipinos now – especially regarding foods with mushrooms.
We would really appreciate it if you could grant us an interview (even over the phone or through email would be great if you are too busy).
The first part of our marketing paper is due this coming Thursday, so we hope we can get in touch with you before that time.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read our letter!
Sincerely,
Aimelyn Lim and Monica Ang
I’m very sorry, I meant ma’am. Sorry for that.
Aimee – Not sure how I could help but feel free to send me the interview questions via email and I will do my best to answer them. Send them to apples at haravata dot com. Thanks!
