How this blog came about

I started writing about stuff I did, saw, used or encountered that I found even remotely interesting to me. You see when I was younger I used to be what people would call "chatty". I always had stories to tell and experiences to share. My friends are witness to that fact and have had their ears more than once bear the burden of listening to my endless chatter. I am one of those who hold marathon phone conversations with girlfriends (or boyfriends) and can talk about anything and everything under the sun (or moon for that matter).

As my friends and I got older, the time spent on endless storytelling was turned into time spent living in the real world - work, career, dating, family, marriage, children. With all the stuff you need to cram into your 24 hours, marathon conversations just dont have room in it.

Years ago also, I regularly wrote on diaries/journals. I had about a boxful (larger than a shoebox mind you) of diaries that I had accumulated over the years that I eventually threw away after reading each one last time.

So you see… my history proves that I was destined to blog.

And so I blogged. And now Im here.

I started out with blogger. My husband introduced me to wordpress when he saw how I was having so much fun modifying my site’s theme and how my choices were limited. He first let me piggyback on his domain and eventually we bought one for me. apples-pie.com was created.

My previous themes:

Mistylook with a header image I created myself.

Regulus with a header image I created myself.

Regulus with more enhancements.

And finally a theme I created myself… not from scratch though. I took one of those empty layouts and customized it using my old regulus themes, and other inspirations. But its feels like I started from scratch and I really feel proud about the result of all my work and time learning and coding CSS. Besides that time that was spent coding and designing was time that I did not spend posting.

** Update from June 2007 **

I have changed my theme again - sorry! I guess I am on a quest to better what I already have. Depends on the mood sometimes. And the closest to my previous themes I found is the one by Headsetoptions. I searched for another image for my header from gettyimages and there you go. My new theme!

** Update from July 2007 **
I fell in love with this elite-circle theme when I first saw it so here I have used it as my own. Of course I transferred the header. Too bad its only 2 columns. I might make it 3 if I dont get lazy.

** Update from August 2007 **
If you notice my current them is similar to what I had 2 months ago. But this time I used the super adsense theme as my base template and transferred my custom header. I still really like th 3 column theme and maybe that’s why I did not stay long with elite circle. 3Kredux was challenging to update though so here I am not much changing in the look - at least it would appear so.

** Update from October 2007 **
Inspired by the great vector designs of flairinthecity, I decided to take a stab at creating my own header that features illustrations of women taken from gettyimages.com and from hedkendi.com. It does not even come close to what flairinthecity has but I love it.
