Trillanes takes over Manila Peninsula
Huwaaat!!??? Trillanes is on his way over here? I said aloud as I read the security advisory that our company has sent out.
Suddenly the floor was abuzz. Something was happening. It happened so fast. Spontaneous was not the term to descibe it. I am inclined to believe it was planned.
It was scary to be trapped in a building so near Manila Peninsula where all the commotion was ongoing. It was hard to tell which was scarier, to stay put and remain at risk in case the situation got worse, or to go out and try to leave the area at the same time exposing yourself to danger.
Before I could decide, security personnel informed us we were not allowed to leave the premises. There. They decided for me, it was safer for us to be inside than outside.
With no radio and no tv and a firewalled network, all of us inside were clueless to the chaos happening around us. But I was persistent, I leaned out a conference room window and managed to take pictures of Ayala Ave (yeah yeah - not as exciting as Makati Ave).

After all the excitement, it was really disappointing how Trillanes surrendered JUST - LIKE - THAT. He said it was because they wanted to avoid hurting innocent civilians.
We’re going out for the sake of the safety of everybody, for your sake because we cannot live with our conscience if some of you get hurt or get killed in the crossfire,” said Trillanes, addressing the media.
H-e-l-l-o-w!!! You should have thought of that in the first place.
The PNP was right to have implemented such “ruthlessness” against this group of soldiers. It forced Trillanes true color - which is that of a coward. He professes to be the voice of the people and yet act to endanger the same people who he claims to protect and at the height of it all - surrenders. Where is the conviction he claims to have to the cause he is fighting for? I am no fan of Gloria but Trillanes is no saint or hero. He has made a mockery of the people’s cause and hid behind the bodies of media people probably crossing his fingers that because of the media, the administration will give in to their demands.
So what is it really that Trillanes is fighting for? Is it only for Gloria to step down? In all the hullabaloo that is all the message he managed to say out loud. Or is it that he wants so badly to attend the Senate sessions? What did he expect? He is being tried for his oakwood mutiny for pete’s sake!
If there is one thing I heard someone say that I agree with is that the media should be applauded. Yes, they should be because regardless of the threat to their lives, they were there side by side doing their best to bring the events to people’s eyes and ears. Truth be told, it was Trillanes and his group who endangered the lives of these people and everyone else in and around the area.
So what now Antonio Trillanes? Do you go break down the Makati Shangrila next? Tsk tsk.

Bad Catholics. Who were behind the fiasco? The Catholic Bishops and Priests. We call our country the “only christian country in asia”? Look, the self-proclaimed christians are the ones who are always at the forefront of these anti-government movements, and they will try to get support from other religions too!
A pity that we blame the SENATOR which the FILIPINO PEOPLE voted. Wait a minute there, majority of the FILIPINO people who voted for him are also catholics!
I see some trend here - SIN.
I pity Trillanes…
It seems like he doesn’t know how to make use of his brain. Either that or he probably wasn’t born with one.
Let us all move on. Stupidity does not deserve THAT much attention.

Opinion of an Outraged Citizen
Few years ago, when Antonio Trillanes and several other soldiers formed Magdalo and laid siege on the nation, I was outraged. Now, that this man, hiding behind his soldier-image, is again waging a personal war, I am outraged.
First, I was outraged during the Oakwood mutiny, as it will always be referred to in the nation’s history - societies exist because of the an unwritten rule that us, members, obey rules, otherwise a society can not exist. If everyone has the option to wage a personal war against the government or an entity for any slight, imaginary or real, then everyone will. I have no respect for any man or woman who acts beyond the boundaries of rules. Although, I admit that sometimes rules need to be broken if such rules are outdated and no longer serve their purpose. However, I can’t stop thinking that what Trillanes and the rest of his group are doing are mere expression of vanity.
Second, how dare this man invoke ‘the people’ in his propaganda. Tell me, where are the people in this farce? The people are laboring for tonight’s bread while Trillanes is inside Manila Peninsula where ‘the people’ had never been in or will they ever be in. What a load of crap!
When will this man stop his madness? Clearly, he just want to get out of jail, and yet again, cheat the system. Who wouldn’t be outraged with the gall of this man for breaking the rule and not pay for it? A murderer, a thief, a rapist incarcerated in our jails are more dignified - they, at least, are paying for what they did and this soldier will probably not.
@Bad Catholics - I cannot say I agree with you. But you are free to express your own opinion.
@Disgusted - I agree. He must have been stupid or crazy to think what he did was the best way to achieve his goal.
@Liza - Strong views which I must agree on as I too believe that what Trillanes did was an act done to satisfy his own rather than “the people’s” mission. He calls GMA as having a mad desire for power. His newest stunt actually brings him up to the same level to which he describes the President. He himself is power hungry and his means to achieve power suck to the highest degree.
If you think about it, if he had died in the Manila Peninsula for the cause he is fighting for, he would have had the slightest chance of being called a hero. Now he is merely a coward who has wasted the people’s time and the people’s money with his antics.
Exactly. Propaganda niya lang yung statement na yun bago siya lumabas.
Kung iniisip niya talaga ang public safetly, hindi HOTEL ang pupuntiryahin niya. It was scarier in the Oakwood because it involved EXPLOSIVES.
He is a coward because he likes to involved innocent people. But then it was expected na lalabaas din yan. If ever something happnes to the media, it would be also his fault for not letting them out and in the first place, for sieging a PUBLIC PLACE
With what he had done, he made Arroyo more badass and powerful.
I realize, he’s even funnier than Jun Ducat, the guy who took hostage of his beneficiaries.
People around the world but be thinking that we are a nutcase because we present FUNNY and INEFFECTIVE solutions to our national problems
@Mocking - I agree with - “he made Arroyo more badass and powerful”. If there is one thing GMA did that was right in this instance, it was the immediate response and swift decision making that is required of the President. Although the method was a tad over, it achieved its purpose and ended what could have been a longer standoff and more loss to those affected.
Trillanes is no different than other terrorists. And terrorists fight for more noble causes than what Trillanes is fighting for. But the methods they use is the same. And the rule of thumb is that you never negotiate with a terrorist.
