I dream of dancing in Broadway
If today I was asked what I wanted to be when I grow up, there is only one reply I would give. I want to be a dancer in Broadway.
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to dance. In fact, I love movies that are all about dancing. Flashdance, Sing, Swing Kids, Dirty Dancing, Stomp the Yard, Center Stage, Save the last dance, Bring it on, Chicago, Take the Lead are just some of the dance-related movies that I have watched.
I also have a whole history of dancing that I can put on paper to back me up. When I was in kindergarten, my mother enrolled me in ballet classes that was held at the basement of the SM Department Store in Cubao. Maybe it was that event that made me fall in love with graceful movement or maybe it was the pink tights, but I was hooked and meant to dance for life.
I have been dancing since then. I went from ballet, to folk dancing, to cheerdancing, jazz, ballroom, hiphop, streetdance, gymnastics. I danced in class presentations, school presentations, school concerts, company parties, and even dance competitions. I danced with the stars too! I danced with Gary V, at an APO Hiking concert, as front act for Side A.
Even now, where I work, I still get invites to perform or choreograph event presentations - like our very own team Xmas presentation. I do not hesitate to accept as it is only then that I get to live out my dream. And although I don’t get to be on Broadway, or rub legs with other professional dancers, or break my toes from all the dancing, at least I still get to dance. And in the end, the dream is kept alive.

I had a fairly liberal guidance counselor in high school who use to tell me that if I could close my eyes and envision myself doing what I want to do and to pick something that I would do for free. If I could imagine doing something then that is what I should do. You said in your Bio you are an aspiring writer as well. Your dreams are the vehicle of ascension while your ambitions fill the tank. I hope you achieve your higher self.

crazy4pinays - Thanks for the thought. I too am a firm believer that if you really want something so bad, it is not impossible to get it or achieve it. So that makes me stop and think… maybe I my dream is just a dream after all.
If you want it bad enough, you will excel in it. Might not be excelling now. But with constant practice you will get there
Thanks Tahn! I guess its the practice I lack.
