Making friends
I was taken aback (in a good way) the other day when my 4-year old came up to me and told me… “Mommy, its my classmate’s birthday tomorrow. Can you please give me money so I can buy a gift for her?” It wasn’t so much that he has learned to ask for money but that he is asking money to buy something for another person.
The last time I recall he had asked me for some change was when he wanted to buy some Jellyace from the local store that he saw some neighborhood kids eating. Mostly he would ask me to buy something for him, like “Moo” or Yakult or a Thomas train, or Hot wheels, or a Barney CD but never to buy something for someone else. He even said he wanted to be the one to pick out the gift.
I smiled. Is my darling son starting to actually make friends?
