Why do kids love Jollibee
I don’t like eating at Jollibee. I am a McDonalds or Wendy’s fan and always prefer these establishments when craving for oily, fattening and unhealthy fast food. The few times you would see me at Jollibee, it was probably because of one of these: there was nothing else but Jollibee where I was; I must have been dying of hunger; my kids are crying their eyes out for Jollibee; I was forced at gunpoint to eat there (not literally).
It is the same with my kids. I tried to train them to patronize McDonalds or Wendy’s instead. But in a country where Jollibee is located at every corner, it is really difficult to avoid the red and yellow bee. Add the fact that many of their cousin’s and playmate’s birthday parties are held at Jollibee so it was inevitable. My kids became acquainted with Jollibee and although I doubt that they can tell the difference in taste, the clamor for Jollibee has increased in our household. In fact, my youngest son’s first word was ja-yi-bi. Of course I am exaggerating but it was one of the words he was able to utter first.
“Mommy, punta tayo Jollibee (Mommy, lets go to Jollibee)”
So now I wonder, what does the bee have that makes it so appealing to many kids (and kids at heart)? Is it the taste? Hardly. Is it the mascot? I am not sure. What do you think?

Confound those marketers!
In the states where obesity has become “epidemic,” fast food has been blamed as one of the main culprits. As new parents, my husband and I avoided fast food restaurants vowing our daughter would never be taken to McDonald’s on a normal basis.
One evening as I’m driving home late and starving, I decide “some chicken McNuggets won’t hurt until dinnertime.” As I’m pulling in the drive-thru my 2yo from the back says “Mommy, I want food in a box with a toy.”
:O!! They’d already gotten to her!

It has to do with the mascot. Children find the clown Ronald Mcdonald scary. They prefer the friendly looking Jollibee.

GloriaMC - Yeah I can imagine because my kids ask for the same thing.

Dr. Engr. - I myself am afraid of clowns in general so I can understand how Ronald McDonald can have that effect on kids. Have you seen the “new version” of Ronald McDonald? Uugghh! Scarier!

hahaha…
like what they say, they learn to pronounce ‘jabee’ even before kids learn to pronounce mommy or daddy

Roy - Exactly. Plus all the tv or radio commercials that kids hear or watch these days no matter where they are.

I too prefer McDonalds sandwiches but the Jollibee chicken joy is really good.

mixednuts - I find chicken joy to “flour-y” but it is indeed very salty which I love.

The mascot has got something to do it it, maybe. Just my guess…

my daughter loves jollibee too, ever since she was an eensy weensy baby… even before she can talk, she’d point at jollibee and smile… =)

karen - I think Jollibee’s big smile makes the kids think he is smiling at them. Although Ronald the clown does have a big smile too - but it is a scarier smile.
