Balance is vital in life, balance is essential to true success. Without it, true happiness is not achievable.
Your son is young; let him grow freely with your constant guidance. Introduce him gradually and timely to different aspects of life – relationships, school, sports, music, adventure, outreach, and books.
Everything is relative or can be. If he loves to study or read and you want him to be physically active, let him read about different sports or play and encourage him to try them. Learning can be easily achieved when all types of learning are applied – audio, visual and kinesthetic. Influence can be easily achieved when demonstrated (by parents, siblings and persons of authority).
Study or read together and play together. Try to find and achieve fun in everything you do as an individual and as a family. Good luck!

Retrospectively, all I can say is, the nerds from my high school ended up being the "better catches" later in life.
